Rockford police make arrest in 2021 killing of 15-year-old Malah’ki Lee

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police have announced an arrest in the 2021 killing of 15-year-old Malah’ki Lee, who was gunned down while walking home from school.

Police said Jeremiah Mondesir-Williams, 20, has been charged with First Degree Murder, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (MDMA).

On Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, Lee was found dead in the roadway around 3:45 p.m., in the 900 block of Ashland Avenue.

Investigators determined Lee had been dropped off by his school bus and was shot moments later while walking home.

Mondesir-Williams was identified as a suspect in the case. He was arrested on April 23rd, 2025, after officers executed a search warrant on a house in which he was staying.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
