George Fox women’s golf off to NCAAs for 15th straight season after winning NWC Championship

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — For the 15th straight season, the George Fox women’s golf team is off to the NCAAs after clinching the 2025 NWC Women’s Golf Championship on Monday in McMinnville.

The star of the weekend was George Fox’s Alison Takamiya who won the two-day tournament after finishing 5-under-par. The defending NCAA D-III National Champion had a strong second day of play and ended with 11 birdies. She shot a 67 (-5) in the first round, followed by a 72 the next day.

of George Fox finished third, capping off a great performance for the Bruins. Lam had two birdies and 10 pars in the second round of play finished the tournament by shooting a 152 (+8).

In the final team standings, George Fox dominated with a total team score of 603, despite not having two of their players. The podium was rounded out with Whitman in second shooting 628 and Pacific University in third with 638. Fourth was Whitworth (646), followed by Lewis & Clark (676), Puget Sound (682), Pacific Lutheran (685), and Linfield (704).

Takamiya was named NWC Player of the Year, while Lewis & Clark’s Ahika Jani won NWC Rookie of the Year. MaryJo McCloskey, the coach at George Fox, received the Women’s Coach of the Year Award.

Up next, since George Fox won the NWC’s automatic qualification they will head to the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships in Williamsburg, Virginia from May 13–16.
