LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Flash flooding has made a mess of the morning commute around Lafayette Parish.

Storms have produced over 5 inches of rain in parts of the area, specifically around downtown Lafayette towards Broussard and Youngsville.

There have been multiple reports of stalled vehicles and water rescues taking place throughout the area.

Avoid travel until the water levels recede. This may take some time, closer to the midday timeframe.
