Police said the burglaries took place on Jan. 11 on Stevick Drive and followed a similar approach. In the first incident reported, police said suspects broke a rear glass door to enter the home between 7:38 p.m. and 7:42 p.m. It was not disclosed whether anything was stolen from the residence.
In the other incident, reported between 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., suspects also shattered a rear glass door to get into the home. Police said thieves made off with $20,000 in jewelry and gold and silver coins.
APD said it is taking part in a new Burglary Reward Program — sponsored by San Mateo County officials and the San Mateo District County Attorney’s Office — to help advance the investigation.
“We believe this initiative will not only encourage community involvement but also send a strong message that criminal activity will not be tolerated,” said Atherton Chief of Police Steven D. McCulley in a news release. “Your eyes and ears are a critical extension of our department, and together, we can make a meaningful impact.”
Anyone with information about suspects tied to these burglaries is urged to contact Atherton Police Detective Gina Dutta at (650) 688-6500 or GDutta@ci.atherton.ca.us.
