Wildfire grows, more residents evacuated in Ocean County, N.J.
(WPHL) — The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is on the scene of a wildfire burning at the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area in Barnegat Township, Ocean County.

As of 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, the fire has grown to 3,200 acres and is only 5% contained. According to the NJ Forest Fire Service, 3,000 residents have been evacuated and 1,320 structures are threatened.

According to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, the Garden State Parkway is closed near Exit 69 for Waretown. The Parkway is closed in both directions between Exit 63 in Stafford Township and Exit 80 in South Toms River.

Several local road closures remain in effect, as of 8:15 p.m. Tuesday:
  • Route 532 (Wells Mills Road) – between Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway
  • Bryant Road – between Wells Mills Road and Route 539
  • Jones Road – between Route 532 and Bryant Road
  • Portions of Route 9

The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.
