Rockford’s air quality receives ‘F’ grade from American Lung Association

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford’s air quality has received an “F” grade from the American Lung Association, making it the 52nd worst in the nation.

According to the report, Rockford residents are exposed to over five unhealthy days of air pollution per year, a significant increase from 2024.

The Greater Rockford Area also received a “D” grade on ground pollution, the 63rd worst in the country.

The report said residents are exposed to over three unhealthy days a year due to ground pollution.

Despit the poor numbers from the American Lung Association, Rockford still passes federal pollution standards.
