‘Punky Brewster’ star Soleil Moon Frye coming to FanX this September

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Punky Brewster is all grown up and will be coming to FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention this September.

Soleil Moon Frye, known for playing the main character in the ’80s sitcom “Punky Brewster”, also acted in “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, “Friends”, and voiced Zoey Howzer in “The Proud Family.”

In addition to her career as an actress, Frye is a director, producer, and documentarian, recently directing “The Carters: Hurts to Love You, focusing on how fame impacted the family of Nick and Aaron Carter, as their sister Angel reflects on their childhood.

Frye also released the book “Happy Chaos: From Punky to Parenting and My Perfectly Imperfect Adventures in Between,” highlighting her journey from child star to entrepreneur and mother, sharing advice and inspiration along the way.

“Punky Brewster was one of the most popular TV shows of the “80s,” said Dan Farr, FanX founder and show producer. “Soliel’s character, Punky, influenced an entire generation of kids, and she’s continued to be a positive force for good in the lives of that generation and for subsequent generations.”

Chelsie Stoker, FanX marketing coordinator, said Frye has been requested as a guest for the convention for a long time. Frye had to cancel in 2023 when she was last set to attend the convention, so Stoker said they’re especially excited to welcome Frye this September.

“She has such a fun multigenerational audience, where she’s touched so many fans through her different shows,” Stoker said.

FanX will be on Sept. 25 – 27. Tickets are available online, with a discount currently set for the promo code ‘Magic’. Frye’s photo op will go on sale this Friday for $70. Autographs will also be available at the convention’s Celebrity Row, and are currently set for $50.
