On March 13, around 11:30 a.m., police say they received a call regarding a five-year-old boy who had been admitted to the trauma unit with severe burns. Police say the child sustained second- and third-degree burns caused by exposure to hot water.
According to officers, he is still undergoing treatment.
The boy’s adoptive mother, 32-year-old Rosa Rios, was arrested Friday, April 18, and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of torture, assault with a deadly weapon, and child abuse likely to cause great bodily injury or death. She is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bail.
Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact Detective Jimenez at 559-637-4250.
