According to an MCSO news release, 22-year-old Carlos Gonzalez-Hernandez was found unresponsive at the ADC around 2:30 a.m. on April 17. Jail medical staff and IEMS with the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived and immediately began providing aid before Gonzalez-Hernandez was pronounced dead nearly an hour later, MCSO said.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Gonzalez-Hernandez did not appear to suffer any physical trauma or serious medical illness, according to MCSO. At this time, no foul play is suspected in the inmate’s death. Toxicology results are currently pending.
MCSO noted that the inmate’s death is being investigated by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, MCSO’s Internal Affairs Unit, the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
Gonzalez-Hernandez had been incarcerated since March 26 on the following charges:
