Hospitalized Jefferson Parish inmate dies of pre-existing condition

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — An inmate who was being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center was hospitalized and has died due to what was reportedly a pre-existing condition.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, a male inmate was taken to a local hospital due to the condition, which he was reportedly suffering from prior to his incarceration.

Police say the man succumbed to his condition at the hospital around 10 a.m. on April 23. An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
