On Earth Day — Tuesday, April 22 — the zoo offered nature activities for the whole family, along with a free arboretum tour and a chance to chat with a scientist.
The Chicago Public Library will be hosting a story time on Wednesday. A librarian will read books and sing songs that celebrate Planet Earth from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Thursday the focus is on sustainability as attendees can learn how to take small steps that can make a big impact on the planet. There will be an educational rolling cart with information on sustainably sourced palm oil that can be used in foods and everyday items.
Arbor Day festivities begin on Friday with opportunities to learn about trees and their leaves, an oak tree cookie table and a free arboretum tour at noon.
Each day of the week there will be seal training, penguin feeding and monkey cognition.
