How worried am I about severe weather? On a scale of one to ten, I would currently put my level of concern at a 3. We will see thunderstorms across the area from Wednesday through Friday. Most will likely occur during the afternoon and evening when temperatures will be at their warmest. Given the lack of significant upper-level support, any severe storms that we do see will probably be isolated to scattered in nature. Our main concern will probably end up being damaging winds if we have any severe weather issues. Currently, SPC indicates that the severe weather threat is not high enough to justify a slight risk in their current long-range outlook for the last half of this week.
How much rain? The Blend of Models indicates that most of the ArkLaTex will receive at least 1” of rain during the next week, and 1 to as much as four inches in the next ten days. The current 7-day outlook from WPC also shows amounts of around one inch over most of the ArkLaTex.
10-day Outlook: Temperatures will stay warm despite all of the anticipated rain, with highs mainly in the 80s and lows mainly in the 60s. Upper-level high pressure will take control of our weather by this weekend. This will shut off most of the rain and bring some warmer temperatures. Highs could soar to close to 90 degrees by the end of the weekend and the beginning of next week. Our next shot at more organized severe weather could come by the middle of next week.
