Man shot dead outside Edgewater apartment high-rise

CHICAGO — A death investigation is underway after a 37-year-old man was fatally shot outside an apartment high-rise building on the city’s North Side.

The shooting happened around 2:17 a.m. Tuesday on the 6000 block of North Sheridan in the Edgewater neighborhood.

According to police, officers responded to the high-rise after a call of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 37-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the inner right thigh.

He was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No one is in custody. Area Three Detectives are investigating.
