FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4) — A man was shot and killed in an officer-involved incident on Monday after police responded to reports of a man holding a pistol to a woman’s head.

According to the Farmington Police Department, officers responded to an area near Lupine Way and Foxglove Road just before 2 a.m. on April 21 after receiving reports of a “domestic disturbance.”

Upon arrival, officers saw the man and woman outside of a residence and confirmed that the man had a handgun.

“Officers gave the male multiple commands to drop the weapon, but he refused to do so,” police said in a press release. “One officer fired his weapon, striking the male.”

Medical personnel responded to the scene, but the man was declared dead. Neither the woman nor any officers were injured at the scene during the shooting.

Farmington Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public, and that the incident was isolated.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave, and the Davis County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol Team is investigating.
