Gov. Little orders flags to fly at half-staff to honor Pope Francis

BOISE — Gov. Brad Little ordered all U.S. and Idaho Flags be flown at half-staff in honor of the passing of Pope Francis.

Francis died early in the morning on April 21, at the age of 88.

The order was in conjunction with a national directive from President Donald Trump and will end at sunset on the day of the Pope’s interment. An interment date has not been set.

Little shared his sentiments on the Pope’s passing.

“Teresa and I join many, many others in honoring his life and legacy of service to Christ and others,” Little said.

The Pope’s death affects the nearly 204,000 Catholics in Idaho, as well as the 62 million Catholic citizens in America, according to a Pew Research Study. These thousands make up only a percentage of the 1.1 billion Catholics worldwide, according to the study.

Trump also announced his sentiments before the passing of his directive.

“God bless him and all that knew him,” Trump said.
