KOIN 6 News first broke the discovery of what appears to be the Martin Family car
Last month, the Hood River County Sheriff’s Department tried to pull the car from the water, though only the chassis could be removed.
But for Mayo, the recovery effort is far from over.
“I would love to see this fully resolved. I’ve been working with the Hood River County sheriff and the different port authorities. We’re coming up with a plan to really bring this hopefully to a conclusion,” he said.
Mayo is planning to bring in other divers and specialized equipment to free the car from the sediment. To do it, he has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs.
You can learn more about the plans, and make a donation, here.
