CHUBBUCK — A woman was cited for inattentive driving over the weekend after crashing her vehicle into a Chubbuck home.

It happened Saturday around 3:15 p.m. in the 13000 block of North Hiline Road, according to Bannock County public information officer Emma Iannacone. The driver was headed south, missed a turn while she was distracted and crashed straight into the house.

“She traveled through the bushes of this home and the driveway and hit the house, including the awning, deck and carport,” explained Emma Iannacone, public information officer for Bannock County.

The residents of the home were not there at the time. The driver wasn’t injured, but was cited for distracted driving. The first offense typically carries a $75 fine.

“It’s just events like these that remind us why it’s so important to give our full attention to the road when we’re behind the wheel. We’re just grateful that nobody was injured in this event,” Iannacone said.

The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, along with Idaho State Police and North Bannock Fire District.
