57-year-old man dies after hitting tree in Belvidere

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — A 57-year-old Capron man has been pronounced dead after colliding with a tree in Belvidere.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, around 4:43 p.m. on Monday, April 21st, a Chevy Malibu, driven by James Moravec, was traveling northbound on Russelville Road and left the roadway in the 13000 block, striking a tree.

Moravec was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was rushed to a Rockford hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation.
