Video shows start of Kentucky police chase involving stolen cop car

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – A video obtained by Nexstar’s WEHT shows the start of a police chase on Monday morning that started in Indiana and ended in Kentucky, where a suspect stole a marked police car.

According to authorities, the chase started around 9:30 a.m. in Chandler, Indiana, and ended in Owensboro.

Indiana State Police (ISP) said it started as reported reckless driving, and the suspect was wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet and pulled out a sword on police.

The suspect could be heard communicating with authorities across police scanners, according to WEHT.

Authorities said the chase ended when a Rockport city police officer stopped the suspect in a field. The suspect reportedly started to run, and an electronic stun gun was used to take the suspect into custody.

ISP said the suspect was injured, suffering from a gunshot wound, after Chandler Police shot at the suspect multiple times. The suspect was taken to an area hospital.
