Power restored for nearly 5K people after ‘large power outage’ in Salt Lake

Update:

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — After nearly 5,000 customers lost power on Sunday afternoon, power was restored just before 3 p.m., according to police.

Rocky Mountain Power said that 4,707 customers were impacted by the outage, and the cause of the outage is still under investigation. Power was ultimately restored ahead of schedule.

Whether a power outage is planned or not, Rocky Mountain Power offers some guidelines and tips to prepare for a power outage. Safety and preparedness resources have been compiled by Rocky Mountain Power and can be found online.

Some items that Rocky Mountain Power suggests to keep in an emergency kit are listed below:

  • Water
    • Have one gallon per person, per day
  • Non-perishable food
    • For both people and pets
  • First aid kit and essential medications
  • Copies of important family documents
  • Cash
  • Blankets

Original story — OUTAGE: Large power outage in Ballpark neighborhood, Rocky Mountain Power on scene

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A large power outage has occurred in Salt Lake City’s Ballpark neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

“We are aware of a large power outage in the Ballpark neighborhood,” SLCPD posted on social media. “Treat all intersections with traffic signals out as 4-way stops.”

Rocky Mountain Power is reportedly on scene and working to restore power.

Nearly 5,000 customers are affected at this time.
