OPELOUSAS, La. (
KLFY) — An Opelousas car dealer has been arrested in connection with a fraud investigation involving four stolen vehicles, authorities said.
Allen Guillory, Sr., 55, is charged with four counts each of illegal possession of stolen things and alteration or removal of motor vehicle identifying numbers.
The Louisiana State Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft unit, in collaboration with the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission, launched an investigation April 16 into an inventory audit at AJ Auto Sales in Opelousas, of which Guillory is co-owner.
During the investigation, detectives discovered four allegedly stolen vehicles: a 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, a 2021 Cadillac Escalade, a 2022 GMC 3500 Denali, and a 2021 GMC 2500 AT4. Each vehicle was found to have an altered VIN and was accompanied by a fraudulent title allegedly provided by Guillory. The total combined value of the stolen vehicles is estimated at $275,000, officials said.
Investigators said Guillory also allowed dealer tags assigned to the dealership to be used on the stolen vehicles, as well as by an unauthorized individual, in violation of Louisiana vehicle dealership regulations.
Guillory was booked into the St. Landry Parish jail. Bond details were not released. The investigation remains ongoing.
