Kentucky man allegedly ditches son at Monticello Walmart with stolen goods

MONTICELLO, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Wayne County man is facing several charges after an alleged shoplifting incident Saturday afternoon.

The Monticello Police Department announced that around 2:30 p.m., Jonathan Carlton, 32, was arrested at the Walmart in the Cumberland Crossing Center.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The police said that Carlton told his son to push a cart filled with unpaid merchandise out of Walmart. He was said to have left the store without his son before he later tried to leave with the cart.

MPD confirmed he was charged with:

  • Abandonment of a minor
  • Third-degree unlawful transactions with a minor
  • Endangering the welfare of a minor

He was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center and is being held on a $2,500 cash bond.
