FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One person has died and two people were hospitalized following a shooting in Fresno Saturday evening, Fresno police say.
Just before 5:15 p.m., officers say a person waved them down as they were driving in the area of Belmont and Van Ness Avenues, saying that someone had been shot in a nearby barber shop.
Shortly after that, the Fresno Police Department says it received a ShotSpotter activation in that same area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they say they discovered three people suffering from gunshot wounds.
All three victims were transported to an area hospital, and police say at least one of them was under 18 years old. Officers have since confirmed one of the three shooting victims passed away due to their injuries.
Detectives are working to figure out what happened, but confirm the incident started with some kind of disturbance inside the barber shop.
The Fresno Police Department is still searching for whoever is responsible. None of the victims have been officially identified.
Investigators say this is an active investigation and ask anyone with information to contact them on the department’s non-emergency line at 559-621-7777.
