PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland International Airport has a new spot for pre-flight food and drinks.

On Tuesday, the Port of Portland announced Loyal Legion — a beer hall on PDX’s mezzanine — opened the airport’s first speakeasy: Aurora.

The celestial-inspired bar is hidden in the beer hall, where anyone – whether or not they’re about to hop on a flight – can get the code to enter.

Unlike Loyal Legion’s other speakeasy spots that are walled off or underground, Aurora “breaks the mold” with a bright, art-deco interior and windows, Port of Portland said.

Aurora, named after the Roman goddess of dawn, nods to the sky theme throughout the bar, which was designed by ELK Collective.

According to the Port of Portland, alongside several local beer and wine offerings, the “glammed-up menu matches the ethereal vibe.”

The cocktail menu includes the Aurora Sour, with Rittenhouse Rye, Midori, lemon, egg white and red wine float. Other drink offerings include the Resting Rich Face with Beefeater gin, Italicus, lime grapefruit and soda, along with the Diamond Tooth featuring Hazu vodka, yuzu, coconut and lemon.

“Very few airports have a bar like this, and it’s part of how Loyal Legion and PDX are building a community space pre-security—anyone can come by for a drink, or even rent it out for an event,” the Port of Portland said
