Since that discovery, officials said multiple search teams had been out helping Kentucky State Police and the RCCO with an ongoing investigation that resumed on Saturday.
Five cadaver dogs from Louisville joined the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, state police, and various emergency personnel crews on Sunday to search the area where remains had been found a week prior.
The coroner’s office wrote that more skeletal remains had been found along with articles of clothing, which are being taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort to be analyzed.
“Investigators have identified a person of interest and are hopeful that a positive identification will be made soon, bringing closure to the family involved,” Rowan County authorities said.
The investigation into the skeletal remains is ongoing.
