CPD said officers were on patrol in the Englewood neighborhood around 1:40 a.m. when they were waved down by witnesses who said they had found a person who wasn’t moving and lying on the ground.
Shortly afterward, police said they found an unresponsive 16-year-old male on the ground in the 7200 block of South Green Street who was shot several times.
The Chicago Fire Department took the 16-year-old to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have no one in custody. Area One detectives are leading the investigation into the incident.
