HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man following a drug investigation and vehicle pursuit incident that occurred on Thursday, April 17.
According to the TPSO, 39-year-old Kedrick Carlson was the subject of an ongoing drug investigation and on Thursday, was spotted by law enforcement in the Ponchatoula area.
A traffic stop was attempted but Carlson, who was driving a truck that was towing a trailer with a lawnmower on it, allegedly led deputies on a chase. During the chase, Ponchatoula and Hammond Police reportedly offered assistance.
The incident came to an end in Chappapeela Park, in Hammond, when Carlson reportedly abandoned his truck, while it was still moving, and ran. Deputies say they chased him down and arrested him.
Deputies reportedly searched Carlson, allegedly finding several pill bottles. A gun was also found nearby, believed to have been thrown out of the truck by Carlson.
Carlson is charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, possession of a CDS while in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated obstruction of a highway, aggravated flight from an officer and resisting an officer.
When he was arrested, Carlson already reportedly had warrants out for his arrest on charges consisting of one for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle on a peace officer, one for distribution of heroin and one from P&P.
