WGNO’s Kenny Lopez explains how one church aimed to put the good in Good Friday.
Many folks are feeling blessed today because Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans East hosted a drive-thru gift card giveaway.
“We are giving away $20 gift cards to Winn-Dixie. We have a supply of 200 gift cards. The response has been overwhelming. The lines keep going,” Bishop T. Delbert Robinson with Greater St. Stephen said.
“We were just passing by and they said ‘go get a gift card,’ so we turned in,” Beverly Diamond said.
“It really is showing the love, the love for one another,” Jimmie Hinton said.
“Really just a little Easter boost and blessing to let the community know that we love them, and are here for them,” Robinson said.
Love in the form of making groceries.
“We love people, we love our community. We love New Orleans East. We love the whole city. We just want to make sure we’re contributing in some way for the welfare of the betterment of the people,” Debra Morton with Greater St. Stephen Ministries said.
This is the 15th Good Friday that Greater St. Stephen Ministries has done this giveaway. They also do other giveaways for other holidays.
