A mainly dry Saturday & potentially stormy Easter Sunday

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Most of the ArkLaTex will see a rather dry start to Easter weekend with a mostly cloudy & windy Saturday.  A cold front will bring a chance of storms on Easter Sunday afternoon and evening.

Saturday temperatures:  The Easter weekend will pick up where the work week left off with mostly cloudy, windy, warm, and rather humid conditions.  Temperatures on Saturday morning will begin in the upper 60s to lower 70s.  We will see daytime highs Saturday afternoon warm into the middle 80s.

Futurecast outlook for the next 36 hours

Any rain on Saturday?  Futurecast continues to show that Saturday will be a dry day for almost all of the ArkLaTex.  We will begin with a cloudy sky on Saturday morning.  It is possible that we could see a few rays of sunshine mix in with the clouds on Saturday afternoon. Yesterday, I mentioned that we would see storms develop near Dallas Saturday afternoon that could move across the NW edge of the area late Saturday evening, bringing a risk of severe weather.  While models are trending a bit more NW with the track of these storms, it is still possible that we could see some issues with wind over the NW edge of the area.  The tornado risk Saturday evening is looking very low, but is not zero.

Storms possible on Easter Sunday:  A cold front will slowly move through the ArkLaTex.  It is looking likely that we will see showers and thunderstorms develop along the front over the NW half of the area during the afternoon.  These storms will slowly shift to the southeast late in the afternoon and during the evening.  As of right now, SPC indicates that we will have a marginal to slight severe weather risk on Sunday. Damaging wind will probably be our biggest concern.  I will take a deeper dive into what to expect with the storms this weekend in my Weather Worries article later this afternoon.

Long-range outlook: Your 10-day forecast still shows that we will settle into a rather stormy weather pattern for most of the next week.  After mainly dry weather on most of Monday and Tuesday, we will see periods of scattered storms from Wednesday through Friday.  As of right now, next weekend is looking dry.  Despite all of the clouds and rain, temperatures in the coming ten days will stay rather warm.  Daytime highs will mainly be in the 80s.  Overnight lows will mainly be in the 60s. It is possible that we could see a few reports of severe weather next week.
