PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Police are searching for the vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash Thursday night in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Just before 11:30 p.m., police said a vehicle was speeding eastbound on Cottman Avenue before hitting a woman near the Brous Avenue intersection.

First responders rushed the woman to the hospital, where they noticed she was missing a shoe.

Investigators at the scene found the shoe about 200 feet away from the location where the woman was found. Police believe the vehicle dragged the woman that distance before she was released and the driver fled the scene.

Police said there is one witness to the crash, but there are also several surveillance cameras mounted outside multiple businesses in the area. Investigators hope to retrieve the footage so make an identification of the vehicle, however, they will have to wait for the shops to open before collecting that additional evidence.

The woman has not yet been identified.
