Pennsylvania lawmakers, State Representatives Scott Barger (R-80), Joseph D’Orsie (R-47), and Rich Irvin (R-81), announced that they will soon introduce legislation requiring school districts in Pennsylvania to permit private school students to participate in their district’s extracurricular activities.
According to the memo, students who meet certain requirements for participation in the activity will be allowed to participate. However, private school students would only be able to participate if their school doesn’t already offer the same activity.
Currently, charter and homeschool students in Pennsylvania are allowed to participate in their school district’s extracurricular activities.
This legislation would expand that to include public schools.
The bill has not been officially proposed yet.
