‘Impactful and lasting change’: Fresno officials after solar energy, battery storage projects completed

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The City of Fresno held a Flip the Switch ceremony Thursday to celebrate the completion of two of the three largest solar energy and battery storage projects in the city.

“That means less air pollution and cleaner air for our residents,” said Brock Buche, the City of Fresno director of Public Utilities.

Officials claim the project will save more than $120 million in ratepayer dollars by the year 2045.

“We are far from power, passionate about renewable energy development. And today just marks another step forward in our mission to create impactful and lasting change,” said Ruben R. Fontes, CEO of ForeFront Power.

Key sites for these projects will include the Department of Public Utilities or DPU.

The Fresno Clovis Wastewater Facility and The Northeast Surface Water Treatment Facility.

“Renewable energy, job creation and saving money, taxpayer dollars, those are the things that we’re for today,” said Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer.
