White Sox DFA Mike Clevinger, call-up Steven Wilson from AAA

CHICAGO (WGN) — The Chicago White Sox have designated Mike Clevinger for assignment, while recalling a reliever from Triple-A who spent time on the big league roster last season.

Before Wednesday’s game against the Athletics, the White Sox selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Steven Wilson from the Charlotte Knights and designated Clevinger for assignment.

Clevinger went 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA and three strikeouts over five relief outings and 5.2 innings pitched with the White Sox this season.

Wilson is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA, one save, one hold and 10 strikeouts over five relief appearances with Charlotte this season. He has recorded three strikeouts in three of his five outings.

Wilson went 1-6 with a 5.71 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 40 relief appearances with the White Sox last season after being acquired from San Diego on March 13, 2024, as part of a five-player deal that sent Dylan Cease to the Padres.

Wilson owns a 6-10 record with a 4.03 ERA, one save, 36 holds, and 144 strikeouts in 140.2 IP, spanning 142 career appearances (one start) over parts of three major-league seasons with San Diego (2022-23) and Chicago (2024).

The White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
