Rockford man, wanted for robbery, leads police chase in Freeport
FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford man wanted for robbery led police on a chase through Freeport on Wednesday afternoon, according to law enforcement.

The Freeport Police Department reported that officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Alvin Jones, 32, who was wanted on a robbery warrant.

Around 4:30 p.m., officers tried to pull Jones over at Waddell Avenue and Beach Street, but he fled, leading police on a chase that eventually ended in the area of Stephenson Street and Brad Mar Drive.

There, Jones got out and ran and was apprehended after a foot pursuit, police said.

Authorities said MDMA (Ecstasy) pills were found on Jones’ person during his arrest.

He has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Aggravated Fleeing to Elude a Police Officer.

He was booked into the Stephenson County Jail.
