According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, sources tell him the Bears have signed linebacker TJ Edwards to a two-year, $20 million extension with $16.6 million in guaranteed money.
Edwards, who started his NFL career an an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles, has blossomed into one of Chicago’s best and most durable defenders over the last two seasons.
He has played and started in 34 straight games since joining the Bears in free agency ahead of the 2023 season. Last year, Edwards notched 129 combined tackles and set single-season career highs in tackles for loss (12) and sacks (4.0).
He joins Gordon as key cogs on Chicago’s defense to be locked in beyond 2025 heading into next season. Gordon signed a three-year, $40 million contract with $31.25 million in guarantees that was made official Tuesday.
