Police: Rockford man pushes woman to the ground, strangles her
Police: Rockford man pushes woman to the ground, strangles her
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Joshua Martinez, 28, for pushing a woman to the ground and strangling her, according to court records.

On April 12, around 7:30 a.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of Crosby Street for reports of domestic violence. The suspect had left the apartment before officials arrived.

The victim told authorities Martinez was packing his and her belongings to leave the residence and proceeded to attack her in the kitchen, knocking her down.

The woman attempted to take her phone back from the suspect before she was knocked down again, court documents show.

Martinez started strangling her soon after, the victim told police. The woman had visible injuries, officals reported.

He was taken into custody on April 15th and released on pretrial the next day.

Martinez is charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and strangulation.
