Deputies say they were dispatched to the 19000 block of Road 1 in Madera County after receiving a report of three newborn black Angus beef calves that were stolen.
Investigators report they were able to identify the suspect and eventually located and arrested 39-year-old Efrain Gonzalez of Merced.
The sheriff’s office says Gonzalez was eventually booked on suspicion of felony charges of grand theft.
Deputies say the three calves were recovered and returned to their owner.
