The victim was initially reported to be in critical condition. However, IMPD confirmed a short time later that they were pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.
Detectives detained a person near the scene. It remains unclear what role, if any, they may have allegedly had in the shooting. IMPD said preliminary information indicates the shooting involved people who reportedly knew the victim and that this was an isolated incident.
