KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — Enrollment for heating and electricity assistance began Tuesday, but those in need should act fast as support is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Spring Subsidy is designed to help offset the cost of a household’s electric costs, providing eligible households a one-time benefit depending on income levels and housing category.
Income eligibility for the program is up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The benefits are paid directly to the household’s electric vendor.
LIHEAP is available in all Kentucky counties.
To locate the agency responsible for LIHEAP in your county, visit capky.org.
All applicants will be required to supply the following documentation at the time of application:
LIHEAP said the spring subsidy does not require a disconnect notice, a past due bill, or an eviction notice, and the subsidy benefit can be applied as a credit on your account.
