Two men charged with battery after physically removing man from church meeting

Two men have been charged with battery after physically removing a man from a meeting at a Mountain Home church. Arrested for the April 1 incident are 42-year-old Nicholas Paul Miller of Melbourne and 37-year-old Douglas Joshua Keith Davis of Salem.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, the incident happened during an open meeting at the Hope Center Church.

The victim told police he is a 26-year member and a voting member of the church. He was sitting towards the back and had a question during the meeting. After getting his question answered, he moved to sit next to the pastor and asked him a question. At that point, he was verbally confronted by the man leading the meeting about his seating choice who ordered two ushers, Miller and Davis, to move him.

According to the victim, they did not ask him to get up, they physically removed him from his seat and moved him to another area. The incident was audibly recorded and witnessed by other members of the church. The man says he suffered neck and shoulder pain from the incident.

One member made a Facebook post about the incident, saying “I saw something tonight that I would’ve never imagined I would see in a church. My heart is broken!”

Miller and Davis are each charged with a misdemeanor count of third degree battery. They are both free after posting $505 bond.
