Man sentenced for shooting Lyft driver in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man pled guilty to shooting a Lyft driver in Jackson seven times.

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced that Dontarius Magee pled guilty to armed robbery, armed carjacking, attempted murder and kidnapping in connection to the 2021 incident.

On November 2, 2021, Brandy Littrell picked up a passenger through Lyft at Spring Lake Apartments in Byram. Investigators said Magee lured Littrell to the apartment complex, hijacked her vehicle, took her belongings and forced her into the backseat at gunpoint.

According to police, Magee drove Littrell to a wooded area off of Beasley Road where he ordered her to crawl into the bushes before he shot her at least seven times. Littrell managed to escape and get help. Magee was later arrested and charged in connection to the case.
