Deputies say they were called to the local hospital around 5 a.m., where the infant tested positive for cocaine.
Investigators report the couple from Lindsay originally brought the nine-month-old to the ER for a high fever. However, after several tests were conducted, medical officials received a positive result for cocaine and notified authorities.
Deputies say a search warrant was served at the couple’s home, and narcotics were found. As a result, 29-year-old Ashley Flores and 32-year-old Casey Willibanks were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and illicit narcotics.
The sheriff’s office says the baby and two other children who were in the home were turned over to Child Welfare Services.
Anyone with additional information regarding this case is asked to contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218.
