Landon Ibieta is ready to make the most of new football opportunity at Nicholls

THIBODAUX, La. — Landon Ibieta spent the last three years at LSU learning the mental side of the game while he was exposed to some of the top talents in all of college football.

“I mean, you get to see the best of the best. Like when I was at LSU, I had Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas in my room. So you see what it looks like to be a first rounder and how they practice, how the coaches hold you to the standard. So just kind of bring that here and elevate guys to that level,” said Nicholls wide receiver Landon Ibieta.

Landon Ibieta only played in two games at LSU and missed the 2023 season with an injury, after an impressive showing in the Tigers’ spring game.

He transferred to Nicholls in February despite interest from other big schools.

“Just for a new opportunity. I mean, I love the coaches, and like I said, I had friends here, so it was an easy transition,” said Ibieta.

An easy transition to a new home with great opportunity.

Landon Ibieta lived out his childhood dream by repping the purple and gold, but now the former three-star prospect out of Mandeville is on a mission to remind everyone just how explosive he can be on a football field.

“It’s three years since I’ve really played in a game. Like I got a couple of snaps in games at LSU, but nothing serious. So I mean, I’m ready to just let it loose again, show myself I still have it. You know, there’s been times in that process at LSU that you kind of start doubting yourself. So I’m ready to prove to myself, prove it to everybody else,” added Ibieta.

Nicholls will hold its spring football showcase Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
