Fresno firefighters tackle ‘unusual’ fire inside freezer

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno firefighters responded to a fire that they say was put out before it could make significant damage, but they also described it as “unusual.”

Fire crews say they responded to reports of smoke coming from a home on the 2500 block of S. Lotus Avenue just after 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, crews began to search for victims and the source of the smoke. They say they found the source of the smoke in a “quite an unusual” location – they found a small fire inside the kitchen freezer.

Firefighters say no injuries were reported as a result of this incident, but crews reminded residents in a social media post

to make sure their homes are equipped with working smoke alarms because “you never know when your frozen pizzas are going to cook themselves.”
