Jeremy Clark, 39, of Baton Rouge, and Josh Daniels, 44, of Ferriday, were both charged with illegal carrying of weapons with a controlled dangerous substance, possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies and possessiondistribution manufacturing Schedule II.
A BRPD officer was asked to investigate a suspicious incident at a gas station in the 2300 block of S. Sherwood Forest Boulevard around 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.
Before getting to the scene, the officer was told that a white Nissan Maxima had been parked for an hour at one of the pumps. The officer learned that people were coming and going from that vehicle.
The officer got to the gas station and found a Maxima parked at one of the pumps.
BRPD said that Clark got out of the vehicle and went to pump gas upon seeing the officer. He was subsequently detained and put into a marked police unit. Daniels was a passenger in the vehicle, and he was also detained by police.
A search of the two men uncovered .05 grams of methamphetamine and $527.52.
The store manager said the vehicle arrived at 8 a.m., and a steady stream of people came and left from it.
“The manager stated that the vehicle comes here every day at the same time and sits in the parking lot and sells drugs,” according to the affidavit.
The officer saw a video from days earlier that showed people coming and going from the same vehicle. This led the officer to believe that drugs were likely being sold from the vehicle.
Clark stated that there were only a “couple of marijuana blunts” in the vehicle. Daniels said he was just getting a ride from Clark.
The officer saw book bags, miscellaneous items, and a gun in the vehicle. A search warrant for the vehicle was then obtained, and the officer found three guns, 19.7 grams of methamphetamine, and 8.5 grams of fentanyl.
Clark and Daniels were arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond amount has been set for either men, according to jail records.
