The district says to safely evacuate flood storage from recent rains, five spillway gates at Norfork Dam will be opened one foot at 7:30 Tuesday morning. The five gates will release approximately 4,700 cubic feet per second. Combined with hydropower operations, the total release will be around 7,700 c.f.s. These non-damaging releases are scheduled due to receding conditions on the White River, which receives flow from Norfork Lake and the North Fork River.
The boat launch facility below the dam at Dam-Quarry Park – River Boat Ramp is closed. For continued use, the boat ramp at the mouth of Dry Run Creek will remain open.
