Rockford Symphony Orchestra to bring Beethoven’s 9th to Coronado Theatre
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Symphony Orchestra announced it would close out its 91st season with a performance of Beethoven’s 9th in May, at the Coronado Performing Arts Center.

The performance will be conducted by RSO Music Director Yaniv Attar, featuring the Neilsen Chorale.

The RSO will offer free tickets to the performance for children ages 6-18. Adult tickets range from $33-$77.

The show will mark the final performance of Music Director and Founder of the Nielsen Chorale, Marti Bien. The Nielsen Chorale has been the resident chorus of the RSO since the 2019/20 season, taking over from the Mendelssohn Chorale, which Bien led from 1994-2019.

“Beethoven’s 9th isn’t just something you hear — it’s something you experience, feel, confront and also celebrate. It’s a reminder that even amid chaos, one must always look for joy, for unity, for something eternal,” Attar said.

The Rockfors Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1934 to celebrate Rockford’s centennial anniversary.
