Person fatally strikes tree after speeding on Marion County highway

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A person is dead after driving off a Marion County highway, striking several trees on Saturday, Oregon State Police announced.

The crash occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on Highway 22% near milepost 49.

OSP says Kasey Fox, 40, was driving a Ford F-150 and “traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and contacted the westbound guardrail. The Ford crossed back into the eastbound lane, left the eastbound shoulder, and struck several trees. The vehicle came to rest approximately 50 feet from the roadway.”

Fox was declared dead at the scene.
