Rockford house fire displaces family of three, injures pet

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A family of three is without a home after officials said a fire broke out in their attached garage.

The Rockford Fire Department was dispatched to 3827 Modesto Drive for a structure fire around 5:10am Sunday morning.

Upon arrival, crews said they found an attached garage fire and quickly began suppression efforts.

Officials said firefighters were able to rescue a small dog from the residence during the process.

The pet was then transported by the owners to a local veterinary clinic for emergency treatment.

Authorities said no injuries were reported and the estimated loss is around $80,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
