SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Utah Endangered Missing Advisory has been activated after a 12-year-old girl reportedly ran away from her South Salt Lake home on Saturday.

Divona Manuel, 12, was last seen wearing a navy blue GAP hoodie, blue pajama pants with polka dots, and black Adidas slides. She was also seen carrying a black backpack or purse, and she reportedly ran away around 3 p.m. on April 12.

According to the South Salt Lake Police Department, Divona “left with an unknown classmate.” Anyone with information about her whereabouts has been asked to contact South Salt Lake Police at 801-840-4000 and reference case number LK2025-11099.

In Utah, an Endangered Missing Advisory is issued when someone is believed to be “missing under unexplained or suspicious circumstances,” if they are believed to be in danger, or if there is information that would be able to help the public assist in finding the individual.

After these types of advisories are activated, law enforcement officials enter the information into the National Crime Information Center, and a statewide “attempt to locate” notification is sent to all law enforcement agencies in Utah. What to do when speaking to law enforcement about a missing person

Here are some suggestions to keep in mind if someone you know goes missing. Utah officials suggest taking notes on interactions with law enforcement to keep track of details such as officer names, dates and times of interactions, the case number, and what the officers say.

When working with local law enforcement to report a missing person, it is recommended one shares as much information as possible about the missing person, including but not limited to:

  • Full name or nicknames.
  • Recent photos.
  • Date of birth and age at the time they disappeared.
  • Gender/sex.
  • Detailed physical description (including unique scars or tattoos).
  • Date of disappearance.
  • Medical conditions.
  • Last known location.
  • Social media accounts.
